Christian Robert de Massy
Christian Robert de Massy is one of the film industry’s best
kept secrets. He’s been working for the last 8 years as a freelance concept artist and
illustrator on films such as X-Men: Days of Future Past, Snow White and The Curious
Case of Benjamin Button. All without ever having put any artwork online (until now).
He’s known for his incredible speed and the beauty of his environment paintings and
he’s a popular teacher here at Syn Studio.
Nick Oroc is a senior concept artist at Ubisoft, Montreal. His credits include: Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, Rainbow Six (Lockdown, Vegas, Siege and more), Splinter Cell (Conviction and Blacklist), Assassin’s Creed: Project Legacy, Far Cry Primal and Child of Light. Prior to this, Nick worked as a senior concept artist at Behaviour Interactive, where was involved in games such as WET, Iron Man and Rango. His artwork and tutorials have been published several times in 2dartist magazine and he has been a guest speaker at two Adapt Conferences (2008 and 2009). In addition to this, Nick was also a guest artist at the The Art of Games exhibition in Aosta, Italy and is an experienced teacher.
Sean Bigham is senior concept artist at Riot Games. Sean has worked for a variety of high profile clients including Digital Extremes, Activision and Atomic Cartoons. His designs have been featured in Warframe, Halo 4 Champions DLC bundle, Prototype 2 and other various unannounced projects.
Remko Troost has over 15 years of industry experience and is currently a Senior Concept Artist at Ubisoft Montreal. His designs appear in numerous AAA titles such as Far Cry 3, Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed Unity. His expertise in digital painting and concept art has been recognized with numerous awards and his work has been featured in prestigious art publications from Ballistic Publishing, Titan Books, Imagine FX, 2D Artist Magazine and Computer Arts. His is also an experienced and passionate instructor and we’re excited to have him on the Syn Studio team!
Pierre Raveneau is a senior concept artist at Ubisoft Montreal where he is working on an unannounced project. Prior to this, Pierre has worked for companies like Gameloft Madrid and Ubisoft Halifax on games such as Gods of Rome, Asphalt Xtreme, Tom Clancy’s ShadowBreak and other unannounced projects. In addition to this, Pierre has also worked on several freelance projects for companies such as Square Enix, Applibot, Cryptozoic Entertainment, Alderac and Fantasy Flight Games, among others.
Xin Ran Liu
Xin Ran Liu is a concept artist and illustrator who has worked for several years in the video game industry and in publishing. He is currently lead artist and art director at Kitfox Games. His credits include Mafia Wars, Shattered Planet and Moon Hunters. He is also a popular teacher at Syn Studio.
Reda Amarti is a senior concept artist at Bethesda. He has over 19 years in the video games industry and has worked on more than 20 projects as an art director, level artist, concept artist, lighting artist, etc. His credits include: The Elder Scrolls, Deus Ex GO, Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed, Prince of Persia, King Kong, Splinter Cell, Hitman and many more.
Sergei Sarichev is a Matte Painter and Concept Artist at Mr.X. His Credits include: Monster Hunter, The SpongeBob Movie: It’s a Wonderful Sponge, Ad Astra, The Boys, Vikings, American Gods, Pet Cemetery, Vice and the Truth about the Harry Quebert Affair. His work has also been featured on the cover of Clarkesworld Magazine (Issue 126) and on book covers such as ‘Terminal’ by Noemie Gauthier.
Aadi Salman is a concept artist and illustrator at Ubisoft Montreal. His credits include: Watchdogs 2, Farcry 4, and Rainbow Six Siege. Prior to this, Aadi worked at Volta Creations, and did freelance work as an illustrator and comic artist.
Veronique Meignaud is a concept artist, designer and illustrator specializing in visual development for multimedia environments. In a career spanning over 12 years, she has worked for companies such as Ubisoft, 4U2C, Gameloft, Take Off, Arkane Studios, Steambot Studios, Wizards of the Coast and Electronic Arts on a variety of projects including Far Cry 4, Child of Light, Dishonored, Magic The Gathering and Monster Life. She has also worked on several large events such as concerts by Jean Leloup and Céline Dion as well as Cirque du Soleil’s TORUK. Veronique’s work has been published in magazines such as Imagine FX #56 and Advanced Photoshop #66, among others. Veronique is currently working as a senior artist and illustrator at Moment Factory.
Boris Andreev is a senior concept designer with over 25 years experience as a professional artist in the commercial & entertainment industries. He specializes in Production Design & Visual Development for Animation, both 3D and 2D pipelines. His clients include: DNeg, BBC, Netflix, House of Cool, Hit Entertainment/Mattel, Digital Domain, Brown Bag Films, Arc Productions, Mainframe/Rainmaker Entertainment, DHX, Bardel Entertainment and Atomic Cartoons. Boris has worked on a large number of projects such as: Watership Down, The Dragon Prince, The Legend of Tembo, Thomas And Friends, River Dance, Harold Lloyd and a few others that are still in early stages of development, both TV and feature animated projects.
Jessy Veilleux is the founder and creative director of Meduzarts,
a digital environment and character design studio, and the creative director of Digital
Dimension. Combining a background in fine arts with his passion for digital work, Jessy’s
unique approach and artistic eye has led to his work being featured in a lot of high profile
movies and video games such as StarWars, The Force Unleashed II, Avatar VG, 300, AION,
FallOut 3, SinCity, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen VG, Assassin’s Creed II, Prince
of Persia II and Mortal Kombat X, among others. Jessy has been teaching for 10 years at
Centre NAD in Montreal, where he was instrumental in creating the university’s first
digital matte curriculum. A recipient of several awards including the CG Talk choice
award and the XSI Gallery Award, Jessy’s work has been featured in several publications
such as Exposé 5, Mattepainting.org and the CG Channel.
Daniel Kvasznicza is a concept artist, illustrator and matte
painter with over 10 years of industry experience. He’s worked on AAA franchises including
Batman: Arkham Origins, Starcraft, Far Cry, Dishonoured, Elder Scrolls, Diablo, Fallout,
Deus Ex and Assassin’s Creed and is currently working as a senior concept artist at
Warner Brother Games Montreal. He’s a technical wizard who’s created pipelines, software,
scripts, brushes and other tools. Some of his jaw-dropping concept art has been featured
on several E3 posters! He is also a sought after instructor who’s given popular classes
and workshops in concept design, illustration and 3D to students and professionals at
Alpha Vision, Meduzarts and here at Syn Studio!
Jeong H. Shin
Jeong H. Shin is currently a senior concept artist at Ubisoft. His unique designs can be seen in blockbuster titles such as For Honor, Watchdogs and Far Cry 3 and 4. He studied with world-renowned vehicle and entertainment designer Scott Robertson at Art Center College of Design. Robertson’s tutelage, as well as Shin’s own background in industrial, vehicle and entertainment design led him to tenure at General Motors as a senior creative designer. There, Shin designed two Chevrolet (Cruze and Sonic) vehicles that are currently on the road. While concept designer at Mattel, Shin designed cars for Hotwheels Battleforce 5, the animated series.
Frédéric Bennett is currently a Senior Concept Artist at Eidos
Montreal, in charge of designing characters for the latest Deus Ex game. During his eight
years as a concept artist working mainly in the games’ industry, he has contributed to
projects in the Conan, Transformers, Wet and Kung Fu Panda universes. Frédéric is a very
well appreciated teacher by his students from his Character Rendering class.
Clement Crocq is a senior concept artist with 10 years experience. He works currently at Electronic Arts (EA), and has also worked in the game and film industry as a matte painter and marketing artist for companies such as Ubisoft, Eidos, Quantic Dream and Digital District. His credits include: Far Cry New Dawn, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Detroit: Become Human and the animated movie Leap. He also has worked on an unannounced AAA project from Warner Bros.
Grant is a senior concept artist at Ubisoft where he creates character and environment concepts for various high profile games including Assassin's Creed 3, Assassin's Creed Black Flag, The Division and Assassin's Creed Syndicate. A veteran artist with close to 15 years of freelance and industry experience, Grant’s other credits include generating storyboards for the animated TV show Delilah & Julius, creating concept art for videogames such as Age of Decadence and F.E.A.R 3, in addition to conducting a workshop with ImagineFX magazine.
Jason Tonks is a concept and 3D artist with over 10 years of industry experience for companies such as Warner Brother Games and Ubisoft. During his career, Jason has worked on many high profile AAA games such as Assassin's Creed 3, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Injustice 2, Batman: Arkham Origins and Splinter Cell: Blacklist and is currently working at Bethesda Studios on a top secret AAA game. In addition to this, Jason was also a mentor at the National School of Interactive Entertainment for a year where he helped aspiring game artists in their artistic journey.
Meinert Hansen is a concept artist and illustrator who has worked in film, television, and games for over 27 years. His past credits include the Secret Adventures of Jules Verne, 300, Silent Hill, Batman: Arkham Origins, Splinter Cell: Conviction and Myst 4: Revelation. Meinert has eight years of teaching experience and has given popular workshops for professional artists, students and the general public. He is also an expert on Steampunk, and following his hugely successful Steampunk workshop at the Canadian National Steampunk Exhibition in Toronto, we’re proud to ready to present his updated workshop here at Syn Studio!
Brian Sum is a senior concept artist at Bioware, Montreal. He possesses almost 15 years of industry experience having worked on many high profile games such as Mass Effect 2 and 3, Dragon Age Origins, Sonic Chronicles and Shadowrun. Brian is well known for his colourful, detailed and fresh robot designs and has had his artwork featured in several publications such as Imagine FX Magazine, 2dartist Magazine, Prime Digital Art Collection, Digital Art Masters – Volume 8 and Digital Painting Techniques – Volume 5.

Syn Studio instructors and alumni are designing the characters, creatures, environments, vehicles and props for the world’s most exciting and top secret AAA video games and blockbuster films!
Syn Studio is an accredited private college. Our accreditation is at the highest possible level: the accrediting body being the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Research of the province of Quebec. We are the first and only school in Quebec that is licensed to give a college level diploma in Concept Art. The degree given is an attestation of college studies (AEC) and is an internationally recognized professional degree. Receiving the diploma signifies that the student is ready to enter the job market as a concept artist.
